Delvaughn Tinned

Seattle, WA, USA

I've had the opportunity to play with/against the Hammond brothers, from as little as grade school, all the way to the collegiate level. Throughout those years, they have been nothing short of a class act. I've watched them compete and excel against the highest of competition, through many hours of practice, blood, sweat and tears, and every time they've came out victorious. They both bring a level of intensity and hard work that any coach or player would approve of. I guarantee that when it comes to basketball, whether learning, coaching, or playing, these two are going to give 100% committment in what they do!

It is with great pleasure that I write this reference in support of the Hammondaire Hoop Group (HHG).  During 2013 I engaged the services of Christiaan and Justynn from HHG to coach my son’s Under 16 Basketball Team.  At the time of engaging HHG, the team had undergone a number of changes to the playing roster and had slipped from 1st position to 4th position in their domestic basketball competition and were finding it difficult to turn around a long losing streak.

After discussions with HHG about the team’s situation, Christiaan and Justynn designed a comprehensive skills development program for the team and provided weekly coaching sessions to improve the individual skill of the team’s players.

All the boys on the team responded positively to Christiaan and Justynn’s coaching style and within two weeks the team was able to win their remaining games of the season and make the finals play offs.  The coaching the boys received over the finals period enabled them to make it to the Grand Final where they were narrowly defeated by 2 points.

I would particularly like to commend Christiaan and Justynn for the positive way in which they interacted with players during all of the coaching sessions they conducted.  They were able to motivate and push the boys during training and maintained a sense of fun and accomplishment.

Both coaches treated the players in a respectful and professional manner and were able to achieve significant improvement in skills in a relatively short time frame. I would have no hesitation in recommending the services of the Hammondaire Hoop Group to any team or association who may consider to engage their services.  I would be happy to discuss this reference further by phone if requested.

Christiaan and Justynn Hammond bring a wealth of knowledge from their experiences on the basketball court to now coaching youth basketball. Each of them has had tremendous success at each level of basketball (high school, college, and now professionally) through hard work and dedication. Their message and tutelage to a new generation of basketball players is one I would recommend  to any parent interested in having their son or daughter participate in.

Newcastle, NSW, Australia

I met the Hammond brothers when they played for our Waratah Championship League team in Newcastle, NSW, Australia in 2013. I find Justynn and Christiaan to be both outstanding young men with a pure passion for the game of basketball. My favourite part of the game (besides their ability to get a crowd excited) was seeing them interact with the young fans after the game. Shooting hoops with the young children, who dream of being where they are one day. It was truly humbling and encouraging.

Hammondaire Hoop Group recently conducted a mini-camp through our organization, The Edmonds Sports Academy.  Brothers Justynn and Christiaan did an excellent job performing their duties as basketball trainers for our kids.  They took the kids through a ton of drills that touched all areas of basketball: ball handling, defense, shooting, off-ball movement, rebounding, etc. Their explanation and demonstration of the fundamentals of basketball was exceptional, and the kids absolutely loved working with them.  I fully endorse HHG and would recommend any player or organization to work with them.  I know we will definitely have them back!

Brett Madden

Byron Bay, NSW, Australia

I am a committee member of the Byron Bay Basketball Association and head coach for our U18 and U16 boy’s representative squads. As such I am an integral part of the decision-making processes for the development of our players. After consultation with members of the Newcastle Basketball Association, we recently decided to employ the services of the Hammondaire Hoop Group (HHG) to assist with the running of a 5-day basketball clinic for juniors at our home stadium.

As the principals of HHG, Justynn and Christiaan Hammond provided an exceptional level of coaching and training at the camp. They displayed a natural ability to impart their exceptional skills at all levels to our players and they had no trouble at all retaining the kid’s attention throughout the 5-day camp. They both displayed natural leadership abilities and a natural ease in communicating with our players and assistant coaches.

Thalo Green

Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia

My name is Thalo Green and I am a dual citizen of America and Australia. I first came to Australia 11 years ago to play basketball professionally and help develop the countries basketball youth through grass roots programs. As much as basketball has given me I have given back through my time spent running school clinics, holiday camps and coaching junior and senior teams. I am currently running sports excellence programs and mentoring the Papua New Guinean Women’s National team in their preparation for the 2015 FIBA Oceania Pacific Games.

Over the years thousands of American basketball players have jumped the Pacific to play in Australia to help the game grow and this has been with the support of Basketball Australia and FIBA Oceania. Many of these players returned to their home country but there are handfuls of us who have not only fallen in love with Australia but also the opportunity to make a positive impact on the game by developing the youth.

Justynn and Christiaan have a wealth of experience in this game and they came to Australia to share their knowledge of the game and help develop the nations young promising athletes. I am currently developing junior talents through school clinics and sports excellence programs. I recently have had Justynn and Christiaan coaching alongside me as well as running programs individually to help water the grass roots efforts we are making towards elite development. Without them helping develop the talent here I would not be able to run such elite programs. There are not enough qualified expert coaches in this region to support the demand for elite player development. Aside from their direct interaction with players both Justynn and Christiaan are part of a collaborative brains of trusted coaches and develpoment coordinators who are trying to find new ways to better the game and improve not only the way kids play but also the way coaches coach.

I am writing on behalf of Christiaan and Justynn Hammond, Hammondaire Hoop Group. I have known these young men who were raised by a single mother, since 1993.  They and my daughter grew up together in Seattle during challenging times, both economically and culturally. Though these boys faced each day with enormous peer pressure to become involved in a height of increased gang affiliation, drugs, alcoholism, high dropout rates, and teen-pregnancy, they remained true to their own roots. They grounded themselves in education and sports.

As grown men, they have remained committed to their own true purpose and in the mindset of service to the global community. When they return to the US, they have the responsibility of carrying on the message of "Goodwill Ambassadors" representing the spirit of those countries they have been blessed to work and play in.
